This story starts long before the draw results were posted. It starts with a fat stack of draw odds for ALL the units in Nevada, my husband, his brother, and his good friend Thomas, all trying to figure out what and where I would hunt during the 2010 season. I trusted these experienced hunters to help me draw an Awesome Tag. My trust was well placed!!
The last week in June soon became crazy. Everyone started talking about credit card "hits" and my husband was living on Monster Muleys looking for any sign of draw information. Thursday the 27th my husband woke me up as he left for work to remind me the Draw results would be online today and to MAKE SURE I was checking it hourly. For the love!! Finally after the 14th time on Huntnevada.com the Draw results were there!!! After negotiating the website I found the successful applicants page, and there it was, MY NAME next to a 131 muzzleloader ANTLERED Mule Deer Tag. WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! Screams filled the living room as I danced around my computer. My 6 year old son came out of his room with a huge smile..He knew Mom had finally drawn a tag!!
I immediatly called my husband and told him the good news. I could hear in his voice he was excited, not only for his wife but for his hunting partner. As soon as I hung up the phone the calls , texts , and emails started coming in....people congratulating me on the tag and of course making their forcasts on the size of deer "the guides wife" would take. NO PRESSURE HERE.
The last time I hunted deer with a muzzleloader I was very pregnate with my daughter. I harvested a decent 3x3 the second day of the season...Thanks to my crew. You can only travel so far when you are 7 months pregnate and as big as a house. My husband, his brother and good friend made sure I was successful.
This is going to be a Great hunt. I have since found out that three of our local police officers and some family members of a local guide service have drawn the same tag. I am really goint to have to put on my game face to harvest an AWESOME BUCK. Stay Tuned as I start this crazy adventure!!!
