i left zambia and rsa in june 2011. my wife shot a leopard in rsa and i shot an ostrich in zambia. well my wifes leopard is going to be held in rsa till god knows when and my zambia shipment has been red flagged by usfws and again it could be years till i receive those. apparently usfws is concerned with bird flu when dealing with ostrich and the greenies had leopard and croc imports shut down! apparently line 11a on the import permit now has to be filled out exactly as usfws states. that line states that only x amount of leopards can be imported in during a calendar year and that they have to state on that line what number of the quota your leopard is out of the total quota and the calendar year of that quota. the problem with this is that noone is posting the number of leopards being shipped as permits are being entered so noone knows what to put for the number in this field. its a greenie tactic to discourage leopard and croc hunts. phaz and phasa as well as sci and other groups have sent letters off to usfws but as of now all leopard and crocs are being illegally siezed by the us gvmt. my wifes cites permit for her leopard both import and export had been approved before the hunt and signed for by my wife yet here we are.

so my only course of action as of now is to cancel my 2012 leopard buffalo hippo croc eland and sable hunt for me and my wife in zambia. i have no plans of returning till this is taken care of.

A lot of guys are no longer bringing their trophies home to mount, but are taking lots of pictures and leaving the skulls and skins over there. It saves one hell of a lot of money, and the excitement of a great hunt is not diminished at all.

Tony, if you think about it, you're reaction is exactly what anti's want to see. They want to see hunters give up. I hope you'll reconsider.

I know its what they want to see but I figure given time the good guys will prevail and I can get back to africa.

Why is kevinp talking to me? didn't you kill a big bull this year? A bull near 400"? don't you know we can't be friends anymore. anyone with a 400" bull under their belt is an automatic enemy of mine! You just suck plain and simple lol.

J/K, but this leopard croc seizure thing going on right now blows.

Kevin, when you go to rsa next year make sure you have your cites import and export permit in hand with line 11a filled out before you even leave. If you have that you should be good but as for me I'm not giving the people that I hunted with this year any more money until I get my stuff from last year back.

Thanks for the heads up on the cities permits Tony!!!....

I'll make sure and send you some photos of my Bull if and when I ever get him mounted....Then, you'll really hate me....LOL!

He didn't quite make 400, but he's close enough for me...

Thanks again....Hope to see you in February!

Kevin

Just change your wish list for the next trip to Africa. don't let it stop you. I can hardly wait to go back and will work around stuff like that if needed. I love that place to much not to go back.

Looks like I'm going to cancel my Khal Amazi zambia sable hunt. The sable I saw in there before I left was huge. Phil the ph saw him again last month and got good pics of him and I'm really thinking that bull will go 50". Its not a guaranteed thing but it is high fenced but the grass is so tall and thick that it makes the hunt hard. The hunt is $20,000 for a sable, defasau waterbuck, livingston eland, bone zebra, and an impala. Does anyone want a crack at this before I turn it back? there is only one sable on quota and after I killed that 48" sable last year all the outfitters put their names on a waiting list to hunt there and apparently it is quite long. Let me know if anyone is interested in hunting a top 5 sable.

Should have brought it home on a speed boat and slipped in the back door. Amazing how much time and effort the feds go to in effort to control the import of a lawfully taken animal by its own citizens while literally tons of illegal contraband slips through the border each day. It would be interesting to follow the money and see exactly how many pockets get lined by this draconian regulation of imported taxidermy. Aside from the anti zealots pushing an agenda, someone is making some serious cash on these political maneuvers...bank on it. If these same dipsticks would spend the same amount of time applying red tape to commercial importers of manufactured goods think of the jobs we'd have. Makes me sick.

Stinkystomp et al,

The whole usf&w thing really stinks! Everyone should read some of the Hunting Reports on the subject.

I've had a sheep and a cat illegally seized by them and it was a frustrating experince. (2 different trips)

I finally got my stuff back but it took some help from the Honorable Senator Hatch via SFW. I love having some loyal friends!

UDF&W has a mandate to error on the side of seizure even if it's something as small as a missing period!

I guess the slogan of the day is "international hunter beware"

Good luck to all,
Zeke
