The safari operators in Zimbabwe's Save Valley Conservancy have banded together to offer a unique raffle for a 10 day, all expenses paid hunt for Cape Buffalo, as well as three other species. For those who are not familiar with the SVC, it is considered one of southern Africa's prime mixed bag safari desitnations, with not only excellent plains game, but also the presence of the Big Five with hunting opportunity for the Big Four (No rhino hunting here). The SVC is over 800,000 contiguous acres with no internal fences. The boundaries between safari areas are simply dirt roads and the animals wander freely within the entire conservancy.
The reason for raising the funds through this raffle is that the operators in the SVC jointly fund the operation of their anti-poaching patrols, and they're going to use the proceeds of this raffle for anti-poaching efforts.
Raffle tickets are $100 each, and they are limiting ticket sales to a maximum of 400 tickets. Here is the text of an email that I just received from Melanie Duckworth of Mokore Safaris, about the raffle. Note that while her message says the safari must take place in 2012, my understanding is that the hunt will actually take place in 2013, and I've send Melanie an email to confirm that her 2012 notation was a typo. The winner will also receive $2,000 to be used toward their airfare. You can add additional animals for the trophy fee, so long as they remain on overall quota for the area being hunted.
The Save has excellent populations of cape buffalo, and excellent trophy quality. This is one of the few safari destinations in southern Africa where a legitimate possibility of shooting an old hard bossed bull with a spread exceeding 40" is good. And that's one hell of a big buffalo.

towards airfares/transfer fees. Safari to take place in 2012.

Conservancy so is a good cause.
