"Lichtenstein's Hartebeest"

This was a bonus animal shot for the game scouts. Intentionally shot a little back as not to waste any meat. Taken in coastal Mozambique while on my Buffalo hunt.

That is an awesome animal.

Hartebeest are interesting, but still incredibly goofy animals. A very nice color to the hide, and make a good trophy on the wall. They can be surprising difficult to hunt, but are even more fun to watch. I finally shot my first this year, after 8 different safaris. A really neat animal.

Beautiful antelope. He should make a great mount with that beautiful cape. Congrats.

They are for sure a different animal. I have to laugh, my trackers this year said they liked our group of hunters because almost all of the shots were through the hear and lungs and did not touch the stomach which they wanted very much. To each his own but stomach is not on my list of favorite things to eat.
