African Operators

I have read the comments by a few on here and first let me clarify. I am not a booking agent and I don't get "anything" for the people that I have sent to Blaauwkrantz or Kanana.

I take that back; I did get a thank you via email.

I do promote the outfits I have been with and they are really really good people with good operations. I do it as I want others to experience the same thing I did.

I have been to some places that are not worth a grain of salt and would steer even my own worst enemy away from them.

Jason likes Werners operation and promotes it as it was a good experience. I would hope he would continue to do so as well. Support those that took care of you.

In the same breath I won't bad mouth outfits I have not been with either. I might avoid them based on recommendations from people that I trust but don't bad mouth them unless you have first hand experience.

I will be the first to say thanks to Tony for letting me know about Jason and Kanana. Tony opened the door and after several phone calls and emails; I felt comfortable with Jason and we booked it for just a couple of months later. Needless to say it was incredible and I highly recommend. The trophy quality is phenomenal and personally I don't think can be beat anywhere at this time. I have talked with Jason several times and have no doubt they will continue to manage for quality.

There is to much time and effort involved in going to Africa so make sure you do your research and go with who you feel comfortable with.

My next safari must include Buff and I am 90% sure who I will go with but I am also keeping open minded and continuing to do my research.

I recommend research, research research and you will have a great safari.

It is really hard not to have a good time in Africa.

I would like to throw my two cents in on your above recommendation. I have lost more money in africa hunts than I feel comfortable sharing on a public forum. Let me reiterate that african outfitters ARE the single biggest crooks I have ever met.

The above mentioned outfitters are all top notch. From my experience I can honestly say that the best thing to do is find one outfitter that has taken care of you and that you trust and STAY with him.

I found a ph in South Africa that I found several years back. His name is Ian. I trust him with my life. I have also found that when I want to look around and hunt different species and areas that I NEVER get taken for a ride as long as I have Ian find the outfitter and area. Sure he gets a commission for sending a client but I have never once been scammed. Now if you look on your own you have no idea who you are dealing with and you can and will eventually get scammed. You need to use someone that is "in the know", or in the industry in that area to find you your hunt. These people know the crooks and if its not an area they are familiar with they at least have friends in the area that they can tap for knowledge. I would highly suggest that if woodruff goes hunting somewhere else that he has werner set up the hunt and pay for the hunt through werner. I would also suggest that little joe use Jason or any other outfitter that he trusts and do the same. It may cost a little more but in the end its worth it. Now if you have been several times and got a feel for it then great. However if you have been less than 3 times I would suggest you go through a trusted source.

Just my two cents.
