Hi guys. Planning a huntin trip to Africa in March 2018. Lookin at booking airfare soon. Sacramento to Port Elizabeth.. 1st Safari, any recommendations? Thanx BH1

Take a look at Emraites Air. LAX to Port Elizabeth is looking like 1450.00 round trip. Great Airlines. I'm using them in June. Flying from Seattle to Joburg. You have to check your guns SER # at least three days in advance. Hope this helps.

In 2015 I used Virgin Atlantic out of SFO. Price was incredibly good, and flight was even better. Have flown the trip on other airlines and other locations and they just don't compare. PM me if I can be of assistance.

Buckhunter, you definitely want to fly out of SFO. Airlines I'd look at include Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, and yes, British/American Airlines. British does a great job with firearms, and Emirates does an even better job with firearms. If you're flying without guns, there are many other choices to consider.

I suggest you get onto Google Flights and type in SFO and JNB and your dates. You'll find round trip flights under $1,000.

We booked with Emirates. Why? It rated very high in reviews with all flyers, not necessarily hunters. It was less expensive than many of the airlines we knew something about.

However, this is our first trip over as well, so we are without any experience or knowledge and you shouldn't assume we made the choice based on anything to do with hunting. It just seemed like the best choice for us, at the time we booked. So please don't base your decision on our choice.

We don't want the hassle with firearms and customs, so we decided to rent rifles from the outfitter.

DeLoss, good choice. When I go over, either late this fall if I don't draw a good tag here, or next year for sure, I'll be flying Emirates also. Not even gonna worry about the other options. My friends who fly Emirates tell me they are so much better than any other airline for hunters that I'm just going with them, even if more expensive. Flying out of San Francisco (where I'll be departing from), they're an easy choice.

I flew out of Sac the first trip, Portland the second trip, and will fly out from Reno in May. For me the trip to any of the above locations is about the same drive from where I live.

Flying from SFO had some very good fares and is worth looking at.

Good Luck.

Don't want to take the focus away from the original question, so another that can offer info to the original question, please, by all means do so.

I do have a different question, if we can work two questions, in the same post.

We have a 7 hour lay over in Dubai, on the way home. From 7 p.m. until 12 a.m. If it was early in the day I'd be tempted to hire a quick tour of the city and the "sites" but in as much as I am assuming it will be dark for most of the 5 hours, that seems impractical. I've been told that the Dubai airport has a quite a few shops, restaurants, etc., more the most airports. If that is true, are there any special shops, restaurants, etc that you might recommend, in as much as it looks like we'll be there for more than a few minutes.

Thanks

Dan, do you have any applications in for Utah this year. If you do and draw I hope you'll let me know............... so I can make sure Scott is there to help pack out your bull. :D

I'm a great spotter and I have all kinds of ideas about how you might cut the angle as you stock across the canyon, and through the oak bush. It's the least I can do to help!

My biscuits and gravy are getting better, if you don't mind a few flour lumps!

DeLoss,

We do have apps in for Utah, but the one who had a chance to draw is my son, Danny. He has 15 bonus points for elk, so we are hopeful.

Cool. Did you apply where the world record bull made his last stand? I hear rumors that they are increasing the bull tags on the unit, so this would be a good year to cash in.

DC

That is the unit I applied Danny for. We won't camp where I did on my hunt, though. I pitched camp about a mile south of Manning Meadows. Next time, gonna camp somewhere on the east side near Koosharem.

Well then, the east side you say. Have I got a deal for you an Danny!!

May the stars mine up for you!!!

Call Debbie Trinidad at Custom Travel in Wisconsin.

She is an African travel specialist. I've booked a ton of guys from my area and she's the best. They buy huge blocks of seats on many African flights and get great deals.

Don't book yourself until you at least call her.
