family african safari

well my wife didn't get the big tom cat she was after in south africa because the neighboring landowner poached it but she did get a 165lb female. The game warden is hopefully taking care of the poaching incident right now but i guess no friggin continent is safe from poachers.

I ended up hunting in zambia for the first week of our safari while my family was in south africa. I was mainly after a sable and ended up getting a nice one on the second to last day of my hunt. My ph thought he would be a solid 43" sable and was floored when he measured him at 48"! He's going to end up scoring #12 or #13 all time sci. I also took a livingston eland, bone zebra, and a defasau water buck in zambia.

Back in South africa my two youngest kids let me hold and aim the gun while they pulled the trigger on a warthog and impala each. Colten is 2 and talyah is 4 and they loved every minute of it.

My 12 year old son clay shot a warthog, impala, 51" kudu, dyker, genet cat, blesbuck and monkeys.

My wife shot a leopard, 28.5" nyala, a 7" dyker which is suppose to be huge for a rabbit that was crossed with a deer. She also shot a 23" impala, 2 warthogs, a 52" kudu and many monkeys.

I ended up shooting a 27" and a 29" nyala, a genet cat, 3 bush pigs, too many monkeys to count, and a big bushbuck.

To say we had a blast would be an understatement.

On our last days of the safari we decided to go relax on the coast and soak up some rays.

I'm already planning my leopard hunt over hounds for next year. Maybe I will get myself mauled yet.

Btw, I had to leave my guns in dallas because klm airlines would let me take my guns without a permit to transport firearms through amsterdam airspace. What a load of crap. And just so everyone knows all my animals where one shot kills. lol

STINK......CAN YOU PM ME WITH THE OUTFITTERS NAME, LOCATION....SO I CAN HAVE A LOOK AT HIS OPERATION......THANKS....YD.

BTW if anyone has seen that cabelas sponsored show with smith and wesson with marcus latrel and his group hunting in africa then you are familar with the ranch.

The ranch they booked through with cabelas shot their nyala population to heck so the outfitter booked on this property so that they could get the members of their group some good kudu and nyala. Let me just say that there are more than enough giant nyala and big kudu to go around. We passed on several kudu over 50" and lots and lots of nyala over 28". We were looking for a 32" nyala ian had been seeing and the day we left the stupid nyala walked right in front of the landowners house.

Go figure lol

Tony, Outstanding!!! Great to see your wife connected on a beautiful leopard.....and that's an awesome Sable that you killed...Congrats to you and your whole family. Looks like you all had a hell of a good time.

Good deal stinkystomper! You got some fine trophies there. It's rare to see a turtle that old without lion scars.

I think you spent too much time monkeyin' around though.:)

It looks like it was a fantastic trip and hunt. When the family gets to hunt together it makes it a special special trip. Enjoy taking the kids because before you know it they will be grown.

I love the new stinky camo line but did you have to wear that hat?

NMPaul put your eland up for you on the New Mex. pages. Here it is again. Rounds out the others nicely. Everyone of your animals are beautiful representatives of the herd. Can't imagine a better outcome for your entire family. Good job and thanks for including us in your adventures. And I might add, tastefully presented. See, that wasn't so hard now, was it!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-28-11 AT 00:32AM (MST)[p]Wow is all I can think to say Stinky, Wow. The hunt of a lifetime is a phrase that's over used these days but I believe it apply's in this case. To get to experience that with your wife and children is a true blessing. Well done brother. That's living the dream. Later Baker

Tony Amazing pics! Sounds like the family trip of a lifetime. I have to say the pic with you and your son dragging out the animal is priceless and my favorite by far!!
