"Colorado deer"

Looking for some tags for Colorado. I know the landowner draw is a few months out, but Iím wanting to make some connections now. Looking for 2-3 tags that my family can go on this fall. I missed the hunts this year due to a deployment and figured this would be a good way to get back into the groove of things.

Pretty open to the unit and season...... what do you typically have to offer?

Put in for the draw, get pts built or do a state that you might pull with no points, but got lucky.

I watch tags go for 2k, that a guy can get with 2 pts. For that kind of money, you could get a much better hunt buying a tag out of state (costing maybe 400) and giving a land owner the 1600 left over. Sad to say but the experience would be better and so would the buck im sure.

Not sure you are saying what you mean to say. You can't apply yet for Colorado. That opens in March for next fall If you find a guaranteed tag, then just put in for a point, but most of the landowners won't know what tags they get until June. What you might do is find a good trespass hunt on private in a unit that can be drawn with the point(s) you have

Iím aware of what I said... I put in for the draws each year and will continue to do so until I draw. Even after I draw Iíll go back and start over. (Itís a vicious cycle), I also know that the landowners have to put in for their tags each year and the number of tags and the season can vary. However, most landowners that involve themselves in the program get tags each year, and with the changes that happened to the tag brokering many landowners have been trying to line people up to purchase their tags if they receive them. This is why I was reaching out before the draws....

Hi utfireman,

Our high desert mule deer hunts are 5 day, non-guided hunts and are conducted in the high desert of unit 301 near Craig, Co. †The terrain here includes draws, shallow canyons, ponds and lots of rolling sage. †Due to the mild terrain and good deer concentration, this is one of our most successful hunts. †I would meet you the day before your hunt starts to take a tour of the property, provide maps and have a safety meeting. †As we tour the ranch we will discuss key places on the ranch, animal patterns and hunting strategies. †All members of your group will need to be available to tour the ranch as early at 8:00am the day before the hunt starts.

You would have about a 60% chance of drawing this tag without any preference points. †Our land owners also draw some land owner vouchers each year. †They provide these to hunters who did not draw when available. †These are given out on a first come first served basis giving priority to those who booked first. Typically, through these two processes, everyone will get a tag. †But, because there are two draws involved, we cannot guarantee tags. †It has been about 9 years since we short a tag for this hunt. †Our land owners do not charge any additional fee for vouchers. †

Feel free to look over our website at www.RockyMountainHunting.com. †Under the testimonials section, you can see hunter reviews with pictures and video. †We can also provide references upon request. Our Facebook page is another great source of recent pictures and video. There is a link to our Facebook page on the home page of our website or you can go directly to facebook.com/RockyMountainRanches.

Thanks,
Joe
