Wish I could help with that. David Slaughter (not sure what his handle is here anymore, I just rejoined MM today) will be helping me with my Rifle 1 season bull tag for Unit 61 (finally took the plunge this year and spent 15 pref. points for it). David suggested I contact you about hunting the unit. Dave will be going with me on the hunt, but asked me to contact you. Do you live near GMU 61, have you hunted it before? I'm not even sure what to ask because I don't want to sound intrusive (we all know what it's like when folks ask for specific hot spots so not doing that to you....course, volunteered information is always welcome here, lol). I'll be 67 years old in October, this is my first real Bull elk hunt (I've had OTC bull tags in my back pocket years ago, but had no clue) and maybe my only real chance in my life at a decent bull. I also have one little issue...........pulled my left ACL a month ago, and it's healing well but it's curtailed working out until maybe mid-August (I hope). David has told me that 61 is an absolute magical area with bulls bugling all night long and during the day in the area he's hunted there. So I'm kinda wondering, he was talking about hunting west of Iron Mountain Campground maybe a mile or so. Are you familiar with that big open area and if so, has the brush grown so tall it's not really huntable due to dense cover (Dave was worried about that). I'll go and scout the area probably right after muzzeloader season closes and find out then, but just kinda curious if you could maybe help us out a little bit with whatever info you think might be helpful. Thanks very much and btw, my name is Myke
