LAST EDITED ON Oct-05-12 AT 10:31AM (MST)[p]I think one of my first trips ever hunting as a kid, was Sage Grouse Hunting. For the most part is was always warm and lot of birds and family.

I started taking my son at an early age and this was my daughters first time going with the boys. Not only were we rewarded with birds but she also found her first set of horns.

To this day it is one of those hunts I look forward to every single year.

Here are a few pictures of my son over the years and my daughter. They grow up fast so enjoy every minute you can.

Thanks Stanely!

It is amazing that such a "small" hunt can be so rewarding. We shot about 500 clay targets, shot 22s, had campfires, ate Sage Grouse fixed the way their Great Grandma fixes it, told "OLD ONE PAW" stories, and shot birds!

Crazy how this is better in someways as trying for a monster Henry buck!

The kids helping fix fried sage grouse and onions with pan fried potatoes and cream corn!

Agree!!!!

I love this Forum!! I love to see the younger generation!

You look at a kid and he always has a smile on his face, they never trys to make the trophy look bigger, do not care if orange is in the picture, or blood is on their coat, or if their hat is turned the right way----just pure enjoyment. And no one second guess their score or has negative comments!

Some of "OUR" pictures the guys are not even smiling after taking a great trophy! Man when I shoot something you had better watch out there are big bear hugs, kisses and high fives all the way around!!!

Anyway good on you Brian!!

When I was a kid growing up we called them Sage Chickens. As I got older I heard people talk about Sage Grouse and Sage Hens and thought there were other birds running around I was missing out on...ha ha.
