LAST EDITED ON Aug-21-14 AT 04:26PM (MST)[p]I ran into this guy tues morning attempting to get to a little spike camp I have at 10,000'. I wasn't sure if i wanted to shoot a 3pt that was 4 miles from the truck but when he decided to bed down in the most perfect spot for an easy stalk, well I just couldn't turn a great opportunity down. After a hour of slowly slipping down the backside of the ridge he was bedded on, I topped over the ridge to find him still in his bed at 52yds. He sure looked a lot bigger the closer i got and thought he was close to a 30 inch buck. Drew back, leveled my bow, put my red pin on his vitals, and turned it loose. Gotta love the unmistakeable sound of an arrow finding its mark. After couple of hours of waiting and following a great 500yd blood trail I caught up to this giant of a 3pt. This bugger was much bigger than I was thinking. Now my dilemma is-- Is he a wall hanger? I never thought i would ever mount a 3pt but......

Kirk Congratulations on yet another high country monster muley. You get it done year after year. You are certainly deserving with the time and energy that you put into it. I'm not surprised anymore when I hear about your big bucks through my brother. I hear he looks even bigger in person.

In answer your to question, and like others have said. Not many 33" bucks running the hills not to mention you got him with a bow. Truly a great trophy. I say add him to your already fantastic collection. He will make a beautiful mount. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Hopefully I get to see him soon.

Congrats on a great buck. That buck mounted on a Cedar stump would look awesome. That's what I'd do with him. You will probably never see another 3 point that big again. And if you did see another big 3, might as well have 2 bucks on a cedar stump. Thanks for sharing. Damn good looking Buck.

awesome buck! Hard to argue against getting him mounted, unless you are restricted on wall space or have bigger bucks already done.

There are many things that would be nice to wish for or say but then I would be just like him.

Shoulda let him grow one more year & become a 4 Point!:D

Its not about the size of his antlers. Will you remember about all of the good times on the hunt, every time you look up at him? Then I guess he is a wall hanger. Still a pretty animal to bring into your home. As you get older . It's harder to remember all of those fun hunts. If you haven't already start keeping a journal. Put your tag on the back of the mount. The years run together after a while. Congrats on a beautiful buck !

Great buck! I love huge 3 points. I would mount that buck for sure.

A 33" inch three point with height, mass, great photos to go with, a good shot, and you DON'T mount him? That's ridiculous. Let's skip this talk and go straight to HOW you're going to mount him.

I think the last picture comparing the two bucks answers your question ;)

Years ago (back when I had a need for one) I used to love going to my barber because he had a cool mount of a huge 2 pt. It was a great looking buck that brought enjoyment to most all who walked through the door.
I'm not sure why we obsess on an extra point or two.

Regardless of your decision, I congratulate you on a fine trophy.

That is one awesome buck. I would definitely put him on the wall. However, I would opt for a euro mount because I don't like the look of velvet bucks when their cape is switching to their winter wear. Ultimately that is your call. You made a wise decision shooting him when you had the chance.

Go for it!!

Anything over the 30 inch mark is most assuredly deserving. I have one that is much smaller than that on my wall and enjoy looking at him every single day.

HOOK 'EM!

If that's not a wall hanger, then I'll never be a trophy hunter... That thing's be the first deer for everyone to see in my house. Archery buck, from the high country, that stretches to 33"..??? Not even a question in my mind..

Thanks for sharing your awesome success..!! :)

Hell yes put him on the wall, will give those kids something to shoot for as they start hunting those steep places.
You have the King of 3 pts.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-24-14 AT 03:51PM (MST)[p]I've been meaning to post a couple pics of the finished mount. I can't believe i even questioned putting this thing on the wall. I had to move a smaller 30" into another room to make wall space for this one. i snapped a pic so you can see how much better the detail work Bob puts into his work. Special thanks to Bob at White Moose Taxidermy. He did a excellent job!!! I didn't give him much to work with on my cape and he made it look flawless. Great turn around time and competitive price also. It looks just like the deer the day it died.
