Hello all, was wanting to check and see if anyone had the luck of a 2016 Paunsaugunt hunt this year. How is the deer herd doing? It looked like a nice wet year. Any big bucks on the Pauns. Hopefully me and my 15 points will be lucky this year and draw a tag.

The Boys that Shot the Monster Muley's on the Pauns have been Very Tight Lipped this year!

Believe Me!

There Were A Few Big Boys Taken!

There were Also Some Dang Nice Bucks Taken as Well!

It Was Tough Huntin I Do Know that!

I'd Like To see the Owners of a few of the Tracks I Seen down there this year....................JUDAS!

Are you a resident or non resident? Bobcat Bess can recommend an outfitter for you if you draw.

It was outstanding year on the Paunsaugunt.
The deer numbers are high, buck to doe ratios are great.
There were at least a dozen 200+" bucks harvested between the three hunts that i know of, not too mention all the 170-190" bucks!
Although i didn't harvest the buck of my dreams, i had a hunt worth waiting 16 years for!
I passed on several good bucks and took a super cool buck on the 7th day.
I can guarantee you the outfitters working down there know how to get it done and get it done right, as they all know it well and leave no stones unturned.

It is good to hear that the bucks are returning to the Paunsuagunt. The very first year I applied for a tag, I drew it. I know that was just shear luck. After waiting the two years I again started applying. Now sitting on 15 points. When I hunted in 2000 it was hot and dry, the deer were only moving at night. I did take a nice 5x4 with my muzzleloader. It score 196. I am a non resident so I don't have the chance to get down there and do any scouting prior to the season. I would like to get a little local insight as to the better areas to hunt when I finally draw. I would be willing to trade a secret spot I have in Colorado for some info. Here is a picture or two of some studs I have taken off this area. You decide if it is a good area.

As my user name implies I like to go it guideless. These bucks are taken in an early High Country hunt above timberline. Hunted there for 18 years and have only seen 2 other hunters in those years.

Hey diy are you still willing to give out some info on that high country Colorado unit? I've got some info on the pauns or the oak creeks. You choose
