I still can't believe what happened today. I never in my life thought I'd see a buck like this in this area with a OTC tag let alone get a chance to kill him with my bow. This morning after work I set out to just fill my tag with any buck as today was the last day of season. By some miracle this buck showed himself and didn't have a care in the world as I snuck into 32 yards and shot him while he was chasing does. Amazing how they completely lose their minds during the rut. After gaining my composure after the shot I waited 25 minutes to track him and he had piled up 100 yards away and hardly bled. I was able to follow his tracks in the mud to find him. I'm very thankful I got this once in a lifetime opportunity and made the most of it. A quick green score put him at 204 2/8" gross and 201 4/8" net. He could be one of the biggest typicals ever killed in AZ with a bow and assuming he doesn't shrink too much during the 60 day drying period he could be close to top 10 pope and young in all the world. Once again thankful for this awesome buck and thanks to my wife for putting up with my obsession. I'll post more pics later on.

Hereafter referred to as the "Powerline Buck".

Everyone will remember it for years to come. Good job!

Wow! Absolutely beautiful buck! I love those big typicals! Congratulations and thanks for sharing Bonecollector!

I think he got it scored and accepted by Boone and Crockett. Didn't it win a contest here (MM) as well?

Mount was seized and charges filed. Then the mount was returned and charges dropped. Witch hunt. Check the facts

Judas. Funny how he says “Amazing how they completely lose their minds during the rut”. Not at sad as how people loose their minds when they want some Instagram or WWW fame. I'll say it again—-Judas.

I have been following this story on another website for sometime now. Your facts are WRONG!!! Buck was poached & poacher is facing charges & fines

Yep, I stand corrected. I apologize. When the situation began they seized the buck and then returned it saying the charges would be dropped. Apparently the investigation continued. Sad deal

I was going to give congratulations until I read the thread. Is this another Kirt Darner?

Apologies to the little boy. I was not trying to insult the child. I thought I was replying to the original post. Not sure how it happened to add to the photo.

You didn't insult the little boy....that pic was in the original post.

Zeke you are partially right, a D Bag lost his mind and the deer herd lost a fantastic gene that will be next to impossible to get back! I say tie him up in the town square and give everyone a chance at him, be about the same chance he gave that buck!

Thanks for following up on this case, I too, would like to see the article and facts. When I read his original post I wondered whether the season ending on 12/31 or 01/01, and he was claiming the buck was taken today as if he posted the photo on the same day he took the buck.... just wondering.

It’s still a kind of new story, the conviction anyway. It will make the papers and G&F headlines in another month I’m sure. I’ve heard several different things about it and I don’t know what details are true.

I didn’t ask about details of the case, but one of the officers reached out to me about a prize he won here on the site in the 2016 contest. I guess part of the plea agreement or something is that he has to return any money or prizes received.
I guess I should’ve tried to get the scoop on the deal. I did ask if the deer was poached and I got a simple “yes”.

If anyone is actually interested in the facts they can be looked up online. I was not convicted of illegally taking this buck. Original charges stemmed from a local who claimed to have a trail cam pic of the buck in a neighboring unit. I had a witness with video evidence of this buck right where I claimed to have killed it. The azgfd star witness was the local who suddenly claimed I told him I poached it which was strange because I had talked to him a handful of times in my life and certainly not someone I would be telling that to. I was confused why he was going that route until I found out a few weeks ago turns out him and his wife went down for poaching a deer and an elk and lying about residency for lifetime licenses. It all became clear that they were simply doing what they could to salvage their hunting licenses which proved to work when the game and fish magically changed their illegal take charges to public nuisance charges then the commission didnt even take their hunting licenses. Literally unheard of. Anyway back to the facts of the story. Two weeks before trial with my witness (someone I hardly know coaberating my story) ready to testify I see they are asking to introduce new evidence regarding a deer my friend took earlier that year. Turns out he admitted to them the prior deer was killed illegally, I was there and now they went the route that I illegally harvested a deer in september of the same year therefore killing my deer in the same calendar year made it illegal as well. Spoke with my attorney who looked over the evidence and he came to the conclusion I couldnt beat it even though it was a totally different situation than the public was led to believe. I agreed to plead guilty to illegal possession of my deer you see here as well as illegal possession on the one in September as well as some other illegal possession charges in other cases and illegal take of a bear and a deer.
Anyhow some will see it as poaching is poaching is poaching and you're a poacher for life. Thats fine but just wanted to get some of the facts of the case (that you can look up in court records) out there for others to read. Do with it what you will. Hopefully bowhntr will fill you in on the details of his good friends the Krugs who went down for the poaching of the elk and deer and license fraud.

Sooo.... your not illegally killed deer (above) was made illegal because you poached a deer in September????? As well as another deer and a bear that you just decided to plead guilty too?

Something not adding up with your defense. So you didn't "technically" poach this buck but you poached some other stuff earlier in the year???? Am I reading that right?

Public nuisance? Sounds like this mighta happened in that urban interface where so many otherwise reputable folks get tripped up. Only seems to happen where people are watching.

This guy is a liar and a thief. IMHO---The whole 'shocked when this deer appeared while I was hunting' story is complete horseshit.

This guy likely knew about this buck and had been watching him for months if not years. This whole story stinks.
Anyone that believes a word of this is nuts., you're being played. And then he feigns victim-hood. One less trophy buck for the good guys who do it right. Shameful.

That made zero sense!! He said he illegally took a bear & another deer? I’m confused. This story has been on another website & was stated he was convicted of poaching the deer in the original post as well as several other violations. I’m not buying his story!

That was a Heber buck. Indisputable. Both BC777 and his brother can’t get their stories straight. His brother’s response on CWT, “after talking with my brother” spells out a completely different scenario.

He’s nothing but a thief and a poacher. Don’t fall for it.

I am glad I brought this issue to light on this forum for all to see.

In AZ, you are allowed ONE deer per calendar year. So taking a deer in Jan, or Aug/Sept (and some other OTHER deer and an illegal bear too), means he had no business even being IN THE WOODS PURSUING DEER IN DECEMBER! Poached.
Whether he took it in a closed unit and then transported it to a very well known location that would be recognized in photos by many is another mystery of it's own.

BC777 is an admitted theif for previous crimes. And an admitted liar. So take from that what you will.

I personally think he got away with too light a punishment. But, you can't stop a poacher by taking away his hunting privileges. So it doesn't really matter if the AZGFD banned him for life or not.
