I have 7 points going into this years draw. Want to go with a friend who has 0 points, willing to share points, want to have a nice hunt. Dont have to get the biggest deer, just a good opportunity.

SUGGESTIONS..THANKS

Ditch the buddy. Use your 7 points for a quality hunt. Bonus points are worth more than buddies. You can find hunting buddies every day of the week. Dime a dozen so to speak. Bonus points? Not so much.

And after your awesome hunt you can go with your buddy next year. By then its been a year so he shouldnt be too upset.

Good luck in the draws!

I hunt with a buddy in NV. We put in separately. Sometimes I have a tag, sometimes he has a tag and rarely we both do. We always go together regardless of who has the tag. Doubles your chances to spend time with a good friend in some great country.

Im assuming you are a resident, if so theres always good bucks coming out of area 13 , I have never hunted that area but know people who have and the bucks they come back with are good looking bucks. My only advice is dont waste 7 points on a easy to get unit

With 7 points and buddy zero you'll have 3.5 points and it rounds up to 4. You could still draw some good hunts with 4 points as a resident. If your a Nonresident with 4 points in your group and just want to shoot an average deer look at 031,032,035,043-046, 051, 141-145. Lots of deer in these units. But if your a resident then look at area 6 late hunt.

I would avoid those 2 areas and with 7 points 101-109 mid is a bad choice. You can draw better units trust me. 101-109 gets a lot pressure and the mid season hunt would be tough just to find a deer. Look at 043-046 and focus on 045 in that unit a decent buck can come out of the tobins.

Copy, inappreciate ypur assistance. Time to pull a map and roadtrip out there. Is an ATV needed at all or park and hike, which how ive done all my hunts in the past.

Depending where your coming from id try to hunt that side of the state save time. Nv has great deer everywhere.

In Nevada, one unit is almost as good as another, given that many points offers no guaranteed draw in any unit. From what I can tell, every unit has some good deer. If you hope to draw soon with only 3.5 points, then you need to apply to one of the less popular units. Or, go for a muzzle loader tag or archery hunt to boost your odds.

Nevada is getting slammed. They gave out too many tags. Over the last 3 years they have cut tags 70% or so in unit 101-109.

I hunted there 3 years ago and hiked my tail offffffff! It sucked. Saw 20 bucks....biggest was a 23" 2 point. What a waste of a fantastic deer herd. Nevada mufffed up and let this unit go to the toilet.

Yeah, i hate to burn 7 years of points and not be sure of where im going. This may be the scout year, and out in next year

I wouldn't split 7 points. Just have your buddy go with you on your hunt this year and then the two of you hunt together next year.

quality of perseverance. It overcomes

I certainly wouldnt waste 7 points on unit 10. I also wouldn't share points. I liked the previous post about having someone go with you even if they don't have a tag...and vice versa. No guarantees on pulling any tag in NV with 7 points.
