Dumb question when you guys are scouting early season for mule deer what slopes are you typically looking for east facing west facing does it matter? What other things do you look for during August and early September?

As a general rule of thumb I've found North facing slopes are a good place to look for deer when it is hot outside. In the early morning they are going to be around the best food and then often work their way to a North facing slope to bed. This is just a general rule. The best way to learn an area is to watch it for several days and you will find out where the deer like to feed and bed.

North facing shady thick stuff. Usually the bucks are in bachelor groups so some dumb forky will usually give away the location of some better bucks. Glass early and late. Fish in between. Lol.
