My dad got lucky and won one of these tags. We are pumped for this adventure and we are fortunate this year to be able to take a lot of time to hunt as this is our only good hunt. We plan on being as mobile as possible
We are from AZ so we are breaking down the units to hunt.
Our game plan

55 early (when do they start to strip their velvet?)
45 October
40s, 32, 36a&b, 69 November
54 late
Thoughts and suggestion are always welcome PM if you have specifics but general info is always apprecited. I can help you out with AZ

If you could hunt any hunt in Idaho which would you choose?
What would you all set your standards at?
When do their antlers tip out in belvet?

My dad gets to the pull the trigger but I'm just as excited for this EPIC HUNT!
Good luck to you all this fall!!!

I have a little experience in 54 and 55. Velvet comes off sept 1-10th. By 15th 90% are hard horned. The late 54 hunt could turn up 190+ deer. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Thank you and I will keep you all posted. Hopefully lots of pics.

Forget 36a, I've spent a lot of time the last few years and while I know the bucks show up better in the rut, that area has very very few deer.

Also, 32 isn't what it was 5 years ago, so not worthy of competing against other late hunts.

I just watched a nice four point scrape his velvet off yesterday morning.
A late Southeast Idaho November hunt can produce a 200"+ buck. Unit 66, 66A, 69.
45 is an excellent choice in October. Watch for snow.
Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

Thank you and I plan on giving a run down after the hunt.
We will be hunting primarily 45 in October and maybe venture into 44.
If need be, we will doing little exploring in November.threw the south eastern part of the state. Unless we are given som hints of some toads that show up elsewhere. We will stay pretty mobile. We will be in the hands of Mother Nature by that time. We are pretty excited.
