Drew New Mexico Unit 45 Deer hunt

Hello forum,

I have a muzzleloader tag for late september early october in 45 NM. I have read a few threads on here, sounds like a great unit! I have been scouting quite a bit the last few weeks just to try and get a lay of the land, access points for roads, camping spots etc.. What I am looking to harvest with this hunt is a 3 year old or better buck, don't really care about rack size as much just a mature deer with good meat. Any advice on areas to check out? Not looking for any honey holes just general areas.. So far I have explored Elk Mountain and the Cow Creek areas, as well as the national forest areas outside of Truchas.
