"Finders Fee"

My 82 year old dad finally drew a Henry Mtn. deer tag. Can't afford a guide, but he would be willing to pay a finders fee for some help since his health doesn't allow him to get around too well.

My current situation precludes me from caring about your opinion but go ahead and give voice to it anyway...

Aww c'mon MM hardcases, he's 82 friggin years old, you could take him, even face to face in daylight...

You wouldn't even have to stay up late to torch his house, poor ol' guy probably goes to bed with the sun, you could start flexing your beer muscles at 5 and be all jacked up by sundown, rarin' and ready to go.

OP doesn't say if his Mom is still alive for the rape in front of the smoldering embers of the house fire, so you might have to forgo that ritual. Probably for the best as juries get a bit free with the sentencing over lil ol ladies being hurt.

Op I sincerely hope your old man gets a whopper buck with you by his side to help him re-live it for the rest of his days. Read this one fast cause it won't be up long...

Rifle?

I'm hunting archery. So I am currently scouting.

Hasn't been the best year so far. But, some good bucks and I will have a few on the map when I am done.

What is he willing to settle for as far as size?

I don't expect he is going to need to pay for help. There are lots of good folks willing to assist for those who appreciate it.

Glad to see there are some good people willing to help. Thanks to you guys. That's what MM is all about.

Wish I could help, but those mtns are a long way from my country in SE Wyoming.

Best of luck to you and your dad. We will all hope for a good story with pics in a few months.

Don't laugh about the guys age, half the people putting in for LE tags will be his age before they catch up to the points creep.

How big of a buck is he looking for ? Have you spent much time on the Henrys? There are a lot of roads in the area. It's pretty amazing what you can see from the roads with a good pair of binoculars. Take him out and drive the roads while they are still in velvet. It's different then most regular hunting areas. Get out and spend sometime and enjoy that tag. You will do ok. A lot of the people out there will help you out. Just seeing you on the unit making new friends and finding bucks. Isn't that what it's all about ?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-17 AT 06:55 AM (MST)

Some of you were kind enough to send PMs and emails with very helpful information...thank you. Appreciate the offer Huntnhard37...happy to hear about your hunt and wish you much success.

I'm not much help because I've never hunted the unit. I'm an old bookcliff hunter and spend most of my time each year guiding friends and family on that unit. Dad had quadruple bypass surgery six months ago, but he's a tough old guy and should be able to walk a little by the time of the hunt. He's somewhat familiar with the area after helping a cousin with a bison tag many years ago. We should be ok...thanks anyway.

Best of luck to your dad. I don't know much about the Henry Mountains but I do know that your dad has one of the best tags available. Get out, have fun, enjoy the experience, and take a deer that makes your father happy. You are in for the hunt of a lifetime.
