"If the DWR was just doing its job, and
wildlife and hunting were the actual focus,
none of this process would even matter.
But that is not the focus or the goal in any
of this. The current DWR regime, and
SFW were born out of wildlife declines,
and are currently operated and funded
under that paradigm. Those 200 Expo
tags would not even be worth anything if
the focus was where it was supposed to
be, and wildlife and tags were plentiful.
But under the current business model,
that is how the money and power is
generated. It is generated through the
rising "value"(monitization) of a declining
resource. A resource that is supposed to
be being beneficially managed for the
masses that own that resource, ie. US.
The problem is obvious, hedging is not a
long term sustainable strategy, and
others have to lose, for some to win. In
this case it is us, the many, and our
resources, that are being forced to lose,
because there is a minority who's power
and money is derived from our loses."

Must have been a thrill a minute watching the nail biting play by play. What a joke. The mighty posse clowns never cease to amaze. Hopefully the late season tipped the scales ever so slightly in the favor of the hunter and the paultry army of spotters.

You?re spot on 50, no animal in TARDVILLE should be allowed to die of old age.

If it lives and breathes a TARD should be allowed to kill it, for a small fee of course.

I don't get why people get upset about this, it's not like we haven't hashed out over and over and over what this is. Every year, boom, dead buck, and the same few people just get incensed over a fundraising event.

The way I see it is one less deer to count against the population objectives on public ground. Every deer killed inside city limits by posse's of professional bow hunter's is one more the state can grow elsewhere. Kill them all, if every animal on private ground went extinct right now the public hunters of Utah would be that much better off.

What kind of Jack Wagon spends that kind of money to hunt for the biggest rack in the world, only to then shoot said rack apart..?? LOL That sucks...

Probably why he does not look happy in the photo. Shot that antler right off. Dude must feel like #####. I know if I shot off the antler, I would let him be free for another year.

Any chance it broke when it fell, is it confirmed he shot it off. I don't want to burst anyone?s bubble, but thought I'd ask.

I'm sure it was the same thrill as watching you, your kid, your wife, or anybody else kill a buck. Hunter shoots, deer dies. Not a joke at all. They have a job to do and they do it well. I know everyone that was on the mountain, and they are all stand up guys, not clowns at all. They take their job as seriously as you do yours, although yours is much mor important.

Doyle could sell ice to an Eskimo. To this day I don't get why you would pay for a guide out there.
Props to mossback for......making 6 figures on the petting zoo that is AI.

My offer stands for the next mighty hunter.

Stay at my place. Its in Syracuse. We can grab breakfast at Maverick, ill drive. Ill even pick up the ten spot to go out. You shoot that rutting monster. Ill drag it the 6 feet to a road. Grip and grin, then back to hug hes or Stella to refuel. $10k.

These are hilarious comments. My last couple hunts I have felt like the deer weren't very afraid of me. Public land draw tags. I am not sure if it is because people have been so selective over the years that the deer don't get pushed and shot at much anymore and or because so many people are in the mountains all year that they get more accustomed to seeing people. The big bucks are still hard to find, but I have been amazed. If I got the fantasy island tag (impossible), I would hate to post pictures on here after reading these comments.

Hellen Keller could drop a trophy out there DYI. I was out there last Saturday and could have killed one with a blow dart from ten feet. Maybe the posse of spotters helps disguise the hunter as an Asian tourist??? I'm all for hunting the island but forgive me if I'm not a guide groupie waiting to play soggy cracker over a bunch of grown men pulling off the "impossible." Those tags would be far better served going to a 14-17 year old lotto draw hunter without the guide circus in town.

Hate is a big yummy drug for some people. Much stronger than killing giant muley bucks on an island. Fortunately for the short sighted internet masses here hate remains free.

Pudge, Like your obsessive hate for Hawkeye?

Pudge, we all know how you and your fellow TexASSans enjoy a good canned hunt. Carry on.

I really don't think the posts are bashing hunting the island or the Giants taken on it . If love to hunt that island.

It's the fact that mossback made a fat check for finding a shark in a shark tank !! Ice to an Eskimo is right!!

Bessy you would only get crap if you needed an army of guides and spotters to find you a buck on a canned hunt.

I think those deer are pretty impressive out there. I will never hunt the tag. Why I want to draw more tags rather than be at max points and possibly never draw. I could possibly draw 2-3 deer tags and have a quality hunt. And have a GS tag every couple years with great bucks to hunt. Also I buying an AI tag is nowhere near in the budget. Will I kill a 220+ buck, well odds are not as likely. I think it's a neat place for deer and buffalo to roam, but I won't apply for the tag. I do enjoy hunting on the WF and trying to kill those big GS bucks much more than a 20+ pt tag. I'm not really into hunts with lots of guides and spotters, just not my style. I enjoy having fun hunts with my buddies every year. And that's probably how mossback views it they enjoy guiding with their good buddies every year. So I will say congrats to the hunter and Mossback. Doyle is very good at what he does and he produces huge results every year and you can't take that away from him.

"We don't have a gun problem we have prescription drug problem."

Per post #9 by huntin50: "I guess some wished it would die of old age instead?"

Absolutely not! Nor the other 5 or 10 trophies out there we could have taken this year that will die of old age because we don't issue enough AI public tags.

Bess, for you, you we will take mommas ride out, its way nicer.

But you have to leave that 550 RUM of yours home. You'll shoot right across that island and hit some poor sap out to Lee's Discount Liquor in Wendover.

I will give props to Doyle. His ability to take pics and not get the roads out there in them are pretty amazing. But can we be a little real, its a tiny chunk of ground, surrounded by salt water. Sitting on the tiny amount of fresh water ain't that hard. His cams are on every guzzler and trough out there. Amazingly enough, even on the ones NOT on established trails, which, according to the park mounty that yelled at me this summer, NO ONE IS ALLLOWED OFF TRAILS out there. Wonder if he dug the pic of my azz on that cam?

And no, I don't mess with cams, but I do give them a pic of this fine, glowy white, flat as a board azz, whenever I see one. Your welcome!!

Let me know Bess, spots are filling up fast

LAST EDITED ON Nov-16-17 AT 05:13PM (MST)[p] Haha I like giving TC a picture as well I like to show them my elk tatoo. It looks like the buck was killed on top just on the west side to me in the pic. Not sure if they were by the road or not. I don't spend enough time on the island to know if they were by a road or not.

"We don't have a gun problem we have prescription drug problem."

Still a nice Buck.
