Question, Land owner permits, Guessing they all sell and for mega $$. Stupid question #1 any chanch would give acc. for a modest fee OR just to CEO,sand bankers?Question #2 IF a preson got lucky, deer in rut meat well field dressed and processed ,will meat be tough to chew? I know I don,t belong sitting at the big table when I luckie to be allowed at the little corner one. I over used my dumb questions for today Thank,s all ,John

LAST EDITED ON Jan-14-18 AT 04:39PM (MST)[p]John, if you draw one of those premium tags you shouldn't need a landowner permit or private land access. There is high quality hunting on public land. Thats one reason why those tags are so hard to draw. Keep doing your research. Call the area warden, wildlife manager, BLM range manager, taxidermists, past tag holders, etc.. Another beauty of those tags is that they are so hard to draw that guys who have had the tag are often willing to share detailed information because they won't ever draw the tag again. Do a search on here and find posts for your unit from guys who have looked for info in the past. PM them and ask about their hunt. If you do all those things you'll have a darn good start and you'll know how to approach your hunt.

Yes, If you take care of the meat it'll be just fine. GOOD LUCK. Chip

Good meat is relative. I have loved every mule deer I have taken from the high country. But those low country bucks taste like sage to me, and that is not a taste I care too much for. Adding rutting and it might add a little toughness to the mix, but lots of burger meat due to bulking up!

My low country bucks get put mostly into smoke rings and hamburger with the exception of the backstrap and tenders.
