Possible goofy question warning...

Has Boone and Crockett ever changed their minimum entry score for mule deer?
I could have sworn it was 195 at one time instead of the current 190.

Anyone know? Thanks

Yes the typical net minimum was lowered from 195 to 190. Can?t remember the exact year but it's been quite a few years ago. I believe they also lowered the net nontypical Minimum as well.

Did I mention that I think Nets are for fisherman. Ha ha my best typical is 196 gross and 189 net and my best nontypical is 218 gross and 205 net . Maybe someday I will get a buck that makes Boone and Crockett But until then I am all about gross.

I would say it was in the early 90's? They also lowered the minimum score for NT mule deer. It used to be 240 as I recall.

bc lowered it to make more money off entries from the score whores who enter the antlers just to glorify the deer. then they buy the book to see the deers name in print. it is all about the animal. nothing to do with ego.

B&C wants the very best trophies to be entered , if the minimum is unreasonably high then they will adjust it. if it's too low they'll raise it.

It has zero to do with money. and even if it did B&C is a non-profit organization that puts it's funds back into the wildlife it records. check it out.

B&C is one of the few places we can't all be winners just because we participate these days. if you take an animal makes B&C that means something , the best of the best . if you can cut it stick to golf, or better yet bash those trophies and hunters who did.

As someone posted years ago on here- B&C is really more about scientific study of mule deer antlers. The more symmetrical, the better... NT scoring was just a way to get every gagger buck in the book. LOL
