LAST EDITED ON Mar-14-18 AT 08:44PM (MST)[p]I'm curious if anyone has any insight on how close the bucks hang out to doe this time of year? I understand they're generally separated and in bachelor groups but not sure on proximity.

We recently moved closer to the mountain benches and I can glass about 20 to 40 doe every morning but haven't found any bucks.

I spent part of last Saturday hiking around for sheds and glassing and saw quite a bit of sign but no bucks.

I think either a) they've dropped already or b) they're over the next ridge or two.

Where I was at was beneath and above snowline slightly.

Curious on any insight from other's experience.

The majority of bucks have dropped by the 15 of Feb. We see a lot here in Idaho lose them in January. You are probably seeing a bunch of them without realizing it. Elk will be dumping antlers from now until the 1st of April; some already have lost them all. That said, food is key right now and all of the deer will be within a mile of each other.
