Bad Outfitters and what did you do?

We are having some major issues with an outfitter that we had hired in the past.

Have any of you unknowingly hired a bad outfitter or had a bad experience with one?

What did you do?

PM me if necessary.

Everywhere I know of, there are licensing requirements through state/province governments in order to legally sell yourself as an outfitter. So if nothing else, I'd start by making a formal complaint to the licensing agency. I would also review with them what other actions could be taken, including civil litigation.
The best way to avoid all that is to do some pretty serious investigation of references, etc. before ever hiring someone.
Best of luck.

Years ago I booked with a outfitter in Montana. His brochure was incredible, huge bucks bulls, and sheep. I called the references etc. We went on our hunt for 10 days. 4 of us never saw a elk or deer in ten days. Something was fishy the hole hunt. When I got home I looked up everyone on the brochure and tracked them down. Not one person on the brochure hunted with this outfitter. He would give them a 3 night stay in his lodge for letting them use there pictures. I turned him into the Montana guides association. I don't know what they did but the outfitter was out of business 2 years later.

Man!! Some guys have no integrity or morals!! I am a guide, and I could not ever imagine falsely advertising. I'm sorry man. Some people let money get in the way of things that actually matter. I would not be able to sleep at night if I were to have someone fly across the country KNOWING that I couldn't deliver,or at least give it a hell of a shot . Unfortunately I doubt GF will do anything, but I hope something works out for you.
