Do you shoot or too risky?

You sneak over the ridge, but you weren't sneaky enough or you just smell bad. You've got your bow in hand, arrow nocked. The bucks are on to you, but only 50 yards away. Do you draw and take the shot? Or pass?

Pass.
To far for a deer that knows you are there and is looking at you. Shooting at a deer that is aware of your presence accounts for a lot of bad shots. IMHO

Pass
Never get the shot off or they would jump the shot. Don't want to wound a stud like that front buck. wow!!!

Pass and smile. Be thankful you saw them and try another day. Sometimes it's nice when the deer win. That's why we call it hunting.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-09-18 AT 10:51AM (MST)[p]With them looking straight at you and super alert they will likely notice when you raise your bow so you likely won't even have a chance for a shot. If you already had your bow drawn it still would be dicey that they would jump the string at 50 yards. They darted pretty fast in the video!

Let it rip!

If it's wyoming I'd pass and be back on sept 15 with the rifle with my resident general tag and send a 143gr ELD-X to the boiler room!! Oh and didn't need any points to hunt, Damn I Love Wyo!!

If I was already drawn back I would certainly let it fly. Nothing wrong with that shot IMO. They can jump the string whether they know you're there or not, it's called hunting. If I was not drawn back....well, they got you pegged so you're screwed and wouldn't get a shot off anyways.

These bucks are on HIGH alert, they will jump the string if you take the shot. Just my $0.02.

Would make for an amazing muzzleloader hunt, on the other hand...

If I had the range exactly dialed in, and they let me get to full draw, I'm sending it.

They'd jump the string on my old bow from 20 years ago, but my current bow is crazy quiet...and that arrow will get there a heck of a lot quicker too.

Gotta love that Halon Left, your commentary prompted me to buy one. No buyers remorse at all. Real time, extremely tough to not let one fly IF at full draw, however it's a receipe for a poor hit . IMHO I would most likely let it fly with my Halon.

I would already have to know he was at 50 yards, so it's likely I wouldn't be able to get a range, and shot off on these bucks. If I did manage to draw and put the 50 on that buck on the left, I would let it fly.

Super fast bow. Yep send it.

Assuming I get to full draw... I aim for that low spot where the heart is and let it fly... Likely to "duck" the shot and take it right int eh lungs...

Having shot at (and harvested) a relaxed deer at 50+ yards, I probably wouldn't do it again. A lot an happen in the time it takes that arrow to get there. Just my opinion though

Glad you like it. I intend to be hunting with mine for many years, when I find something that works well, I don't like to mess with it.

Have to make an attempt to full draw. If that's successful then breathe, aim, release...

Have to try.

Tailchaser said it exactly as I would do it. I would try to draw my bow and see what happens from there. You may get lucky and have a shot, maybe not. But drawing your bow isn't going to harm anything unless you can't control that trigger finger.
