I plan on being in the units later this summer and knocking on some doors for a third season deer hunt. Does anyone know if the landowners in this area are open to allowing access to or across their land, or do they typically want a trespass fee? Or is it a he!! no get off my driveway?

Have hunted unit 30 a couple times but never bothered with the private. These units look a little more tricky with access.

Of course, if anyone has any advice for this hunt, it would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to trade information for deer, elk, waterfowl or pheasant in SE Idaho.

Thanks

I know several people in unit 42 and a few in 421. Most are my customers and are ranchers with livestock. Many of these guys also either outfit their ranches on their own in the fall for extra income or they have someone lease their property out to an outfitter. 3rd and 4th season are the better seasons to hunt, obviously, so that may make it a bit more difficult.
It doesn't hurt to stop and ask! Good luck.

I understand what you're saying and if the ranch was mine I would do the same thing. My job is also in agriculture and I know a ton of farmers/ranchers in south Idaho. Some customers and some family. Just don't have the luxury of knowing people everywhere!

from my experience this unit is very tough to get access from landowners. Unless you want to pay their fees. They love deep pockets! Good luck. I hunt on public land and do good to very good in this unit.
