questions about a buck

So I am just curious about the buck in this photo. First off, does it look like the buck has a club growing on his left front fork? I love big muleys but I also love deer that I would enjoy looking at on the wall for many years to come. A club like that is not common and I might just have to kill him if I can turn him up on my hunt.

I also believe he is an old buck due to the big roman nose and older looking body. He is in an area that is suffering from a lack of rain, but he's the only deer I've seen where you can see his ribs and hip bones. Am I crazy to think this is an old deer that is past his prime?

I have hopes of killing a better deer score wise but for some reason he has peaked my interest. If he is old and has a big club on his left side I might just have to take him if I am given the opportunity.

I might be getting him all wrong, but I thought I would ask your opinions on the matter. I don't really care about score, because I hunt for myself and kill what I would be happy with regardless of what anyone thinks. Just trying to get a second opinion is all.

Idk I think he isn't terribly old. No sway back or big frame. If he tickles the pickle shoot him buddy!

I would say younger deer by the looks of his skinny neck and frame. Almost looks like you can see his ribs? Small quarters too. Might look different with his winter coat though? If you will be happy and not disappointed with him than go for it.

yeah I feel like he is old as well. I think his body looks skinny and younger because of the drought. other deer in the area don't look like him and that is what makes me think he is old. I have yet to glass him up so hopefully that will shed more light on the situation, but for some reason I just feel like he is an older age class deer. I have killed bigger deer, but i've never even seen a deer with a club let alone killed one. It will all depend on what else I turn up and how he looks hard horned. I look forward to seeing him later in the year.

Pretty hard to tell from one pic, but I'm getting an "old" vibe from him as well. Many older does will look gaunt like he does, especially in the desert type areas that I'm familiar with.

Everything about that buck screams old. There's a pronounced sag between his shoulder blades and his spine, his brisket is bulged, shriveled rib cage yet his belly is sagging, his hip is poking through his hide, and of course his broad face. That deer is Mtn lion food if you don't kill him...IMO.

While CWD is certainly an option, there have not been any cases of CWD in my area. It could happen, but it hasn't yet so I have my fingers crossed that we continue to avoid it for years to come.

Hopefully I'll turn up some more decent pictures of him that will help us clarify if he really is old like most of us think. I do appreciate the input/opinions.

I think it's a 2x3 buck. He's either young, or he's not well. You can see his ribs..!!
