I helped a friend with the Pauns cactus hunt this past Fall. I would call it an opportunity to hunt but not a trophy hunt. We killed a big ugly 2 point basically, in 4 days of hunting. We saw one good one killed on private property and saw a couple good ones alive, also on private. Most of what We saw were 2x2s with gnarly bases and a couple 20" spikes with the same kind of bases.
Over all it was fun and if you want a cactus buck just for something different than go for it. Keep in mind that any cactus buck that is truly big will get killed on the regular hunt. People dont pass on Cactus bucks that are big with the regular tag.
