I'm a non-res that drew a Mt Goat tag for G5. I'm beyond exited because I've wanted to hunt Goats with my bow for over 25 years. I found a thread that talks about the steam train on the narrow gauge out of Durango to silverton. Question: do they allow a hunter with meet and head/cap to get back on that train? Also does the conductor just stop it mid trip and you get off? If anyone knows the details I appreciate some insight.

Looks like I may also have a youth deer tag for gmu 75 and maybe a 2nd choice tag for me. Appears these two areas over lap boundaries. These are 2nd season so priorities are the goat first but I'd really like to bring my son who is 12 on the adventure. He would have the youth deer tag. First big game hunt for him so just curious if the goats are anywhere near elevation as the deer in this area. I understand there are 14ers in the San Juan mountains but are the goats that high? In my experience goats can very depending on the area. 10,000-12,500', so I'm assuming they will be right up there close to 12-13,000'.

What are some other access points both backpacking and truck camping with day hikes into areas if any?

We are hard core backcountry guys but my wife said I need to buy an RV now so the family can come. Just seeing if that is even possible logistically?

Any stories and pictures of G5 would just make this post so much better to follow so if you have any please share.

Thanks!!!
