The minimum for B&C awards is "generally" 10" wide palms, 8 to 9 pts/side, 40" width, and (I believe) 38" long palms.
If you want B&C or nothing you pretty much need forked brows on both antlers. The reason is palm length only goes to the main beam on antlers with spikes. There are some giant shiras that have spikes on 1 or both sides but there is a pretty good chance they won't make B&C.
If you can put a tape on shiras antlers you'll get a feel for the different measurements. The first thing I look at when judging bulls is whether they have forked brows on both sides. If they don't have them....I keep looking!
When I took my shiras to the taxidermist my antlers fit inside another bull's antlers. The other bulls antlers towered over mine but didn't make B&C. My bull's antlers had an extra 12" of palm length on each side because his brows forked so far out on the brows....that's 24 pts due to longer palm length!
Before you go on your hunt you may want to sit down and decide how important B&C score is! I pretty much knew what I was shooting when I got my bull and passed up quite a few bulls that were more impressive but didn't make B&C.
