What is the trophy potential for unit 81? My boss drew this area and said he is going to shoot the first buck he sees. I told him he needs to calm down and look around a bit first. What do you think ?

Wish I could be of more help, but I haven't herd or read any good info on that area.
Hasn't been rated as a trophy type hunt, so might need to hunt hard to get a good one.
Some one else might chime in that has hunted there, or knows about that unit.

Might be a while to wait, cause most members in Wyoming are busy on a couple other threads talking trash back and forth with anyone willing to argue about reducing total amount of tags for non resident hunters in Wy.

Hopefully they get tired of stabbing each other in enouph time to give a little info to the guys that need it before all the seasons are over.

Good luck

LAST EDITED ON Jun-29-17 AT 05:42PM (MST)[p]I think that unit has produced some decent antelope in the past, but who knows what came through the tough winter. I've never hunted that unit but I have found that hunting later in the hunt during the rut tends to improve odds of killing a nice buck that's cruising for ladies.
I think most antelope hunters get way too trigger happy and shoot way too soon. I've always thought if you haven't looked over at least a 100 bucks before you pull the trigger you've wasted a good time.

He shouldn't have any problem of finding antelope and/or bucks. Take your time, a 12-14 inch bucks are common.

Bigger, you have to get lucky or look at a lot of bucks. Sort of like most areas of Wyoming.
