Hey y'all! I attended the western hunting expo this year and with some super dumb/incredible luck was able to draw the Kaiparowits, West Ram tag! I would have never dreamed I would be a tagholder anytime soon, especially with all my points thrown in the "moose pot".
I chose to go unguided with my two brothers I've hunted I've along side over the years. I'd be happy to chat with anyone who's had some experience/success in there over the last few years. I've done some research and got a good idea of what size of rams come out of the unit, but if anyone has any tips on the unit or personal experience, I'd be glad to hear! I'd also wouldn't mind seeing some cool pics and hear some stories of how it all went down! ??I'm about a month out from opener and I'm finally able to find some free time to really get after it and put some work in. Thanks

Here's one to whet your whistle.

Awesome, Zeke. Can you tell me what that one scored?

I'm starting my desert bighorn hunt this Friday and I'm still trying to get a little better at field judging these boys...

>That's a beautiful sight! ?? Yeah
>let's hear about that stud!
>

Yes that is a beautiful sight and he is a real stud!
My son passed away in a bad 1000' fall on June 17th while mountain trail running/climbing. He ran Boston a couple times, countless local marathons, several 50 mile ultra mountain marathons and even did a 100 mile mountain marathon following this sheep hunt. At 39 he accomplished more and lived more than most will in twice that time. RIP Zac #livelikezac

The sheep isn't too bad either grossing just over 168" gross and netting 166+ to make B&C awards. I remember the age of his ram at 9 since my bighorn from Wyoming the same year was 8 and his was just older.

Have GREAT seasons guys and be sure to share pics and all the ups and downs with your MM brothers.

Wow... I'm very sorry to hear about your son. Definitely sounds like he was a solid guy, with more than an impressive track record. I'm sure that sheep hunt was a special one. Thanks for sharing Zeke.

Really sorry to hear about your son, Zeke. It's hard for me to look at that picture the same way now. Thank you for the score, I think it will be very helpful.

when I look at that ram and I do almost daily since I have a copy of wild sheep magazine on my coffee table, I think of a epic hunt between a father and son that resulted in a lot more than just a awesome ram taken.

good luck on your hunt, it will be a once in a lifetime hunt

We were privileged to help Zac and Zeke on that hunt. It was indeed a special adventure coupled with sharing the experience with some of the finest humans on the planet. Looking back at the circumstances, I'm sure that Zac's ram was meant to be his. What a special (young) man with a beautiful ram.
The West K has some very good sheep, but they are not easy to find. If you see one close to Zac's I'd be putting the hammer down.
