I have been watching and waiting for someone to post reports on this years Buffalo hunts but have yet to see any, so I thought I would share some pictures of my skull I just got back. This bull was taken last year on the Book Cliffs Wild horse bench unit, anyone who has that tag and would like some info please feel free to message me and good luck to everyone.

Two mounts in one? That's great! Did you have the taxi cast the horns to have both the european and the shoulder mount?

Mine is just bleached and no color on the horns.

I really like the way yours turned out with the dark horns.

Great Bison and mount & skull.

How did he do the skull...?

Do you have a Boone and Crocket score card...?

Jagerdad...Normally in Campfire

Hey there BIGJOHNT do you have an un-official Boone and Crocket Score....?

Now that I see your Daughter, "WE" need to chat via PM's then emails.

Do either of you have the Cape...?

And I asked before; How was the Skull Processed...?

Jagerdad .... Yes, Normally in Campfire (Only)

I have not had him scored officially. My guide was helping me pick the best bull out of the herd of 60. He score him in the field at 117. He was at least 8 years old. Haven?t got the tooth data back yet. My taxidermist was actually in camp with us on my hunt. He said he would take care of me and do it right for me. Since this was a OIL hunt. The skull has the original horns and the shoulder mount has the reproduced horns. The cape is on the shoulder mount if that's what you are asking. We saved the rear half of the hide. They where supposed to safe the scrotum for me. So I could make my wife a seamless purse. But the tanner cut it off the lower half of the hide when they tanned it. ? Jagerdad I am a plumbing heating and air conditioning contractor in southern Utah. I am also a Boy Scout leader and a father of five. The youngest holding my bull. Between work, family, scouts and taking care of our mountain property. The toys that go with it. I hardly have time to keep up . But I do enjoy keeping up with my friends on Monster Muleys when I am at my desk on hold or talking on the phone. Not sure how he processed the skull. But when I have been at his shop in the past. I have seen him boiling heads.

Nope , its a tough year on the Henry's. Tried to get him out for the last day of his hunt and he is to tired and sore. The fish cop up there said the had a lot of hunters born in the 30's and 40's on the late bull hunt. To old and to many heath issues to get him on a horse. Most of the animals moved south early this year. Bummer for sure. He did get one shot we didn't really want to take, but his only option. To far away.

Thanks for posting pictures big John, I was hoping to see more of your bull. Looks great and the mount looks massive. Buffalo are huge animals. As for the skull mount, skulls unlimited did the work, he uses beetles and some sort of oil bath to fully clean out all the stuff left behind by the beetles.

Nice bull!

We just got down for the early cow hunt and as usual are having one heck of a time finding the cow herds. Seeing lots of bulls. If anyone has any advice, please send me a PM. Thanks to all!

Nice to see your bull 257 ! Did you get a age on your bull ?

I have not seen an update on my harvest report yet and not sure that I will. I do not no why but three days before my hunt started I had to call the division and see if they even sent out tooth kits and they said they already did and since I had not received one yet just to stop into the vernal office and pick one up. Long story short I got one but after talking with many others with a tag I think I was the only to get a kit so I think they forgot to mail all of them. I hope to see an update soon.

Thanks for your help on the hunt Bessy ! Sorry we couldn't get bloody.

Sunday after the other group looking for bulls ran a horse to death. We thought we better not push the old timer to hard. Didn't want to have to leave him up on the mountain like that horse. Thanks to our guide Taylor Albrecht and all of the friends and family that helped. The bulls where pushed up high where we couldn't even get a horse. Hot(warm) and dry weather other then the first day it snowed a little. Just a little sad when you invest 23 years waiting for a tag and can't fill it.

We were fortunate to harvest a nice cow early on the opener on the Henry first cow season. It sounds like many of the bison have headed down low and according to the conservation officer it will be a low success rate season. It was ironic that I harvested my cow exactly where he said we wouldn't see any this time of year. Stick to the plan and trust what your scouting tells you.

Have a good Cheistmas everone.
