With an amazing youth tag in his hand my son Lee and I made the long track down from SD to hunt these amazing animals DIY. Lee got it done on this great billy with some exceptional shooting. With Lee drawing the only youth nonresident tag in the nonguided pool we New that he was a very lucky 13 yr old. I couldn't have been more proud of how he handled himself on that tough mountain

That's an outstanding trophy for the young man!
Hunting days with your son don't count against your life span...at least in my world.

Take advantage of as many as you can and your days will be long upon the land!

Congratulations to Lee!!! I'll bet he was excied.

CRam,
The "Florida Mountains" are in southern New Mexico. (where the Ibex have been translocated)

The stupid question is why they are called the Florida Mountains. They look nothing like Tampa Bay!!!

The answer is probably that Florido in Spanish means full of flowers. Some Spanish explorer probably passed by there in the spring...at least that's my guess.

Of course I'd love to do that hunt. But drawing a tag....well that?d be the issue. Maybe we can meet up there in the spring and pick some flowers????

Hahaha. It's pronounced flo-reed-a

Thanks for all the nice comments. He and I both still relive that great hunt every day in our minds and still can't seem to get rid of the big smiles. He is my favorite hunting buddy by far. Memories for a lifetime!
