Wyoming Antelope 2018

Anyone draw a speed goat tag this year? I will purchase a point but did apply my son and with just a couple of points he drew. Being 15 and going antelope hunting, him shooting for the first time, should be a thrill for him.

Glad I don't need to know honey holes, places to start, expectations or anything for his tag. We will just go hunting with family and friends. I won't beat the MM crowd to death asking for all the info they are willing to supply.

Unit 100. I have hunted it several times just not recently. The goal is not an 80" goat but a respectable buck and to have a good time with my youngster.

One bit of advice for a first time hunter and his dad. Most novices have a real difficult time getting set up and getting on game.
If you can, take the boy out busting rocks in the desert or some place remote. Have him practice getting on targets with his hunting rifle from different positions. Walk along and pick out a rock to shoot. Point it out to him, just like you would a buck antelope. Have him find it on his own while you range it. Then teach him to breath and shoot, etc.
I did that with my son before his first Wyoming antelope hunt. It cost me a couple of boxes of ammo, but it was fun and it paid great dividends. He killed a dandy buck on opening morning and he acted like he'd done it before.
Above all have a great time. Nothing better than hunting with your kids.

This is not his first time carrying a rifle. It is his first time with an Antelope tag in his name. He has previously shot turkeys and mule deer. He has been very fortunate the last two years and taken a couple of nice bucks on public land in Utah. I have been very very surprised how poised he has been when pulling the trigger but i know eventually buck fever will catch up to him.
