Hi there, I used my 14 points this year and drew a 81 antelope tag in colorado. I have been a monster mulies member since 2010 but my login and password wouldn't work anymore so i had to sign back up.

I am heading to scout the area in September and was looking for starting access points to start looking in the right areas and not waste valuable scouting time. I have good equipment and plan on the whole hunt off plus a couple days on the front side of the hunt.

Would you recommend camping or staying in one of the small towns around there? I can do either. Is there a need for my polaris ranger or would my 4x4 truck be sufficient for the roads in that area? Thanks for the Help.

Servehim had the tag in 2015 and Adventurewriter has the tag this year. You may want to reach out to them. All I got.

Thanks for the info, looks like a good time to make contact with the warden. I think i will still show up a few days ahead and see what i can turn up. I believe you can still turn tag in if hunt hasn't started if i remember from a colorado deer hunt i had in the past.

What would have happened? did they have a bad winter in that valley?

You have to turn it in 30 days ahead of your hunt to get your points back.

Not sure what happened, but warden would know why the counts are low

Would like to know what you think of the unit. It is one of the units on my radar to use my 18 NR points on. Can't believe I allowed myself to stack up that many points.

I bowhunted in areas south and west of Monte Vista in 1998 and saw many antelope including some really nice bucks even well up into the brushy foothills (really up in there). It was my first antelope hunt. Sad to hear that they are struggling now. Hopefully things bounce back with some cooperation from mother nature. If you go, bring more than one spare, I remember getting double flats on either some sharp rocks or prickly pear cactus.
