My brother got a call from DWR that he is an alternate for this hunt. We are super excited and have about a month to get ready. Wondering if anyone could share some information on this hunt. What size to expect and maybe a few places to start looking. Thank you in advance.

Congratulations to your brother. Hunting sheep anywhere is amazing.
You obviously know the Newfies are remote so don't forget anything when you head out because it's a long way back to anything. :) The sheep are Cali Rams so they are small in horn size. Don't expect anything bigger than 150-160. In the past there have been more sheep on the North end than the south. It's not a big mountain so most hunters only take a day or two to kill their ram. If it were my once in a lifetime Rocky tag, I'd spend as much time as I could afford looking over sheep and having a good time. Old and heavy in mass is what I'd be looking for.
Post up pics when you are successful!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-17-18 AT 02:14PM (MST)[p]Thank you for the info. He is pretty excited. Mass is definitely what we are looking for. I have had a hard time finding pictures of California rams to give me an idea of what a 150 ram looks like. I will make sure to send you some pictures
