Goat Down!

Well I was fortunate to draw a goat tag here in my home state of ID. I was certainly questioning weather or not a handicapped guy could get it done. I went out a number of times and saw a few goats. I found this guy the night before and thought I might be able to get a shot at him.

I found him the next morning a little higher and we just thought let's see if I can get there. It was a long steep hike 1 step at a time. I got to within shooting distance in a couple of hours

It was a hard earned trophy and something I'll never forget!! Great time great company and a beautiful day!!

Fantastic hunt, and beautiful goat. Glad for you.

People underestimate just how tough hunting them can be. My wife enjoys rock climbing and has climbed the Grand Teton, and after her goat hunt she said never again to hunting them.

That is awesome congrats!!!

RIP Lil Bro' "Huntnfever"

Thanks guys!! It was definitely the most tiering, challenging, rewarding hunt I've done. And judging by How sore I am today. I'm not looking to do that hunt again anytime soon. That may change in a few days ?

He rolled down the mountain about 300 yards and got hung up in this tree otherwise it would have kept going. I like this pic it looks like he's walking out of the trees. It's so steep!

Freakin' Perfect!!!

Thanks for sharing your high country success.
Goat hunting rocks!

I even got to share the experience with my wife she came out with me 1 weekend. The canyon in the background is ultimately where I shot the Billy.

Thanks guys! I certainly do my best. It's not been an easy transition. I used to be that guy that got off the beaten path last few years I'm that guy that drives around on the four wheeler and everyone curses because I'm not out hiking. (They don't realize I'm handicap ?). I tried the wheeler route first. And I could only look at the goats. I really had to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of and go to the goats. Here we are a week + later and I don't hurt anymore ? the prosthetic is broken so I'll have to get that taken care of. Oh well it's worth it.

Same post in Idaho forum

Thanks a million! There?s a few different pics in the Idaho forum as well.

Why did you work so hard at it??? Just kidding, we took my wife's goat up in the White Clouds in 36A after 4 days, and I hunted the entire season for a Booner and passed up 18 billies before turning my tag back. Haven't been lucky enough to draw again since!!!!!!
