So I need some help I'm new to Bear hunting! My father and I hunted 4 hard days and only saw one bear. I know its hunting. First day in the area had us close to Medicine Lake. I was dropped off at the top of a canyon and as my dad waited at a look off at the bottom of the canyon out steps a big boar about 300 yards away. He watched him for about 15 minutes before he went back into the trees. I didn't get back to my dad until after dark. So will a bear stay in the same general area? Anyone wanting to give me a few ideas on where to check? Most people I have spoken to say they see multiple bears every time they are on the unit. Am I in the wrong area or am I doing something wrong? I will have 3 more days to hunt and would love to make my 5 year old happy not to mention me. Thanks in advance,

Pretty certain I saw you and your father the first night you got to the unit. I was the one your Dad spoke to on the atv while you were getting the motorhome set up. maybe I am mistaking you for somebody else. Either way I had the same tag and am local to the area. The absolute hardest hunt I have ever participated in. It is true their are lots of bear on the unit. I think with all the months of hunting the bear are holding to the toughest area to find bear in. I lucked onto a bear in wooded area, not spot n stalk. I had very little success spotting for bear from high points waiting for them to feed out in open. All bear I saw come into open spent zero time holding still. It was as if they had no interest staying out in open eating etc.. My suggestion is to keep at it and concentrate on areas of good cover near pinion trees, they are hammering on pine nuts. Good luck in your pursuit.
