LAST EDITED ON Jan-12-13 AT 11:36AM (MST)[p]So this was actually about 4 years ago, but my Grandpa has a desert sheep tag, we went over a few days early to scout and had split up to cover more ground before the opener. The night before the season started our buddies found a 170 class ram. So opening morning we were trying to turn him up. After a couple hours of glassing, nothing. Then ere comes a lion out of a big canyon where the sheep was the evening before. About 10 minutes later out comes another. They both went right up and laid out on some rocks overlooking the canyon and were just sunning and licking their paws. So my brother and I took my grandpas rifle, (as your only allowed one gun in the field in Nevada on a sheep hunt) and put a stalk on these lions. We were able to get straight across the canyon and get a good shot. It was about 400 yards across and my brother shot the first shot, 1st lion down. The other lion jumped up and had no clue what just happened as I took the rifle and boom, 2nd lion down. We got across the canyon to retrieve them and they were two good sizes Toms still running together, no doubt just wreaking havoc on the sheep herd. We dont know whether or not they got our 170 ram or not, but we never saw that ram again.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-12-13 AT 12:22PM (MST)[p]Probably does not happen to often when two hunters with tags are in the right place. However, they will travel together - probably brothers.

Sweet photo story and shooting. Two deer and sheep killers down!!! Thanks for sharing.

Great job guys!! you really took some of the pressure off the Sheep & Deer in that area!!

I've seen as many as five lions together. What's even more amazing with this story is that two nonresidents helping out their grandpa on a sheep hunt actually had the forsight to buy lion tags just in case they each saw a lion while helping on a sheep hunt. Now if it were me, and I had a lion tag in my pocket, I'd sure as he!! be carrying a gun!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-20-13 AT 07:56PM (MST)[p]That's pretty sweet! Crazy when that stuff happens.
A buddy and I did it this year with 2 chocolate black bears.

I saw your selling it, did you ever think of getting a rug made? It will cost a few grand less than a full mount, plus you'll have something to look at and remember the hunt when your older.

I don't know what you're looking besides a life size, but if it were me, and was saving money, I would look into a shoulder mount. I've seen Travis Roundy at Roundy Taxidermy do a few with a wall pedestal that turned out amazing. If I remember right it was cheaper than a rug too

Very nice for sure.

Hey guys...keep on scorin' with some cool hunts! I agree with all the posters...although it can happen with multiple lions killed on the same hunt and at the same time, I'll wager odds are pretty stacked against it. Stil a neat experience for ya and made for a memorable hunt!Rock on... ;-)
