Anyone seen any bears in this unit lately. We are headed up next weekend to try to get my dad on his first bear. We have a couples areas to check out just trying to gather all the info I can. Thanks

called one in to 30 yards with a cow call labor day weekend while I was elk hunting. I don't have the controlled hunt tag for bear in that area. I talked to another guy that saw 6 in 3 days in 32a. lots of people running dogs up there. I am sure you have been there by now tho seeing as to how this is an old post. How did you do?

I am hunting the controlled hunt right now. We have been running into a lot of houndsmen. It is time for me to get serious on this hunt now as I would like to be done by first week or October.

Did you ever find some spots for your dad?

After spending some time in 32a scouting we ended up hunting in 32. We ended up seeing 5 bears in a day and a half and we were able to get my dad on his first bear. Kind of bitter sweet because when we were skinning it out he tripped and broke both bones in his leg. I was amazed at the amount of sign and bear we saw up there.

Wow sorry to hear about your dads fall. Was it a good bear? I have been moving lower on my hunt. Seems like the bears are in the brushy bottoms eatin Hawthorne berries and plums. What kind of forage were you finding them in?
