La Sal spot and stalk

I'm sure a lot of you have multiple tags during a season. Well, this year I had a few hunts myself. Two are mine and one was my brother's. After all the smoke has begun to settle from the first two archery hunts, I am now left with a La Sal Mountain Fall Bear spot and stalk ONLY tag that opens in about 3 weeks.

When I drew the tag I was gung-ho ready to whack a bear. With the other hunts, this has been put on the back burner with half a mind to turn it in and not hunt. What would you do?

Is there time to do the necessary research, scour over maps, talk to a biologist, and legitimately kill a bear on this hunt? I've been told the bears are very thick on the La Sal's. What would you do?

I have this tag as well and I have not gone over there to scout at all. I am also kind of hoping for some good luck. I have muzzleloader hunted over there a bit the last 4 years and we consistently saw bears everyday. We only focused on two areas, so I can't say if bears are thick everywhere or not.

I actually had this tag last year too but had to turn it back in due to personal conflicts but we had a heck of a time finding bears when we were deer hunting. It was unbelievably dry then. Hopefully it is better this year. I know just across the border in Colorado the berry/cherry crop is amazing this year for the bears.

I am not sure if you have ever been in the unit before but feel free to hit me up on here if you have questions about the unit, roads, camp areas, etc. Might not be a bad deal to exchange numbers in case one needs help or multiple bears are seen. Good luck!

Took this one the second day of the hunt opener!
