I heard of one killed Tuesday on the Cache unit that I was told weighed a hair over 160 lbs., not huge by big tom standards but I suspect it'll be the biggest cat killed on the unit this year.......cats die young around here. Lack of snow in the high country has kept the lion and deer population spread out meaning we have to cover a lot more territory to find something to run. I only know of one female killed so far.
I haven't done much this winter Kevin since it got cold. I did have one lady hunter in and ran down a pretty nice 4 or 5 year old tom for her to bow kill. I missed my bobcat tags this year and just been roading dogs 2 or 3 days a week but hope to get motivated when it warms up.....
One of my friends ran down a three year old tom for a guy and a really nice six or seven year old tom for another. The larger cat had good genetics and was a big body cat........
I also heard one of the guides in the Books claimed that they have taken five or six of the lions killed on that unit this year, the best was 4 or 5 and the rest were less........
