Looking at the data from the Utah coyote bounty, I noticed that it said there was 60 people that turned in 25+ Coyotes in the state the first year. Got me wondering how many of those were legit where they were all Utah dogs and they were all taken by one person. I'm sure a few of them were trappers that helped get them up to those numbers. So lets here it. Whose in the +25 Coyote club and what was your method of take? I'm sure there is at least a few of the 60 lurking around?

There was a thread on trapperman.com of a guy from the herriman area that killed lots of coyotes. looked like he had quite a few leg holds but mostly he was snaring them i think. he talked about the bounty a little bit. im sure he's in the 25+ easy. I recommend searching for it and check it out! it was a really a good read

I am not from Utah but the last 2 years I have taken 25 coyotes each year just trapping alone. Last year all 25 came from the month of November. I would be very easy for someone to catch twice that if set up to do so. I wish I had more time to really hit it hard but life gets in the way sometimes.

Interesting. I'll have to check out that site. As far as trapping them, the trappers I talk to struggle with catching them. Maybe it's just them. I have always heard they are tough to catch. I believe the stats said there were 600 new trappers in the state trying to collect on the bounty.

I figured someone would chime in and admit they shot 25+, but coyote hunters are a secretive bunch. Anyway, 25 seemed like a good goal to shoot for this year. :)

Hey NVSAGE- about how many traps are you running? why do you think it is you get most of your coyotes in november? or is that when you target them?

I have only been targeting coyotes for the last 2 years and talking to the fur buyers last week of october to 1st week of december is when the coyotes are the best. Any time before that they are usually blue and after that first week in december you will start to see rubbing on the hips. So that why I target them mainly in November.

I run about 40-50 traps. I have 2 traps at every location so I am setting 20-25 spots.
Having 2 traps at a location gives you a couple of these....

I've seen that too. I'm not quite there. Got 20 this year. I'd like to figure out trapping, just haven't put the time and effort into it yet. Plus calling them in and shooting them is therapeutic!

I couldn't agree more about calling. I called for years before getting into trapping and I used that to my advantage when I started trapping. I always thought ok when I call when do they usually come from and how do they get to me.... I set those spots and had a lot of success. Coyotes are supposed to be hard to catch but I struggle with the cat trapping and have to issues with K9s. All my coyote are in Colorado for the big sale this Wednesday hope they do well. Congreats on the 20 coyotes this year.

I usually get between 30 -40 a year. I love calling them in!
