A few misses and a few kills

Went calling the other day and had a great time, started out the day calling in 5 coyotes on 2 stands with all of them getting away. We were pretty frustrated after that but knew they were reacting so we kept after it. Things got hot during the prime time of the day (10am to 2pm) and we put 7 in the truck.

In my opinion nothing beats calling coyotes, definitely my favorite type of hunting.

I myself believe in the mid day hunt as well.

Seems like 11-1 works good for me.

Gotta remember, coyotes are opportunistic. Gotta eat what they can when they can. Deer and elk just go out and eat whatever brush, forage they want.

Here's my theory on the prime time of the day, many people might disagree but here why I like it.

In the morning, first light, coyotes are out on the prowl and on their feet. Since they are on their feet out and about they are more aware of their surroundings and what is happening around them. They see a truck drive by, hear something, see someone sneaking into a stand they become weary. Once it gets later in the morning when they bed down they are not as aware of what is going on, they may even be napping. I have noticed that you can get into your set unnoticed a lot easier during these times. Like what was said above is they are opportunists, while bedded down they hear something that sparks their interest and they come running. I call a lot of coyotes first light but they don't seem to come in as hard because they have been weary of something. The hard chargers are the middle of the day coyotes.

Just my 2 cents.

Nice!!! I've always killed more dogs in that window of time as well.

Are you hand calling or E-calling?

Traditional >>>------->

Hand calls only, I have a turbo dogg but I call probably 98% of my stands hand calls only. I am not a huge fan of the e-callers. I like the variety of hand calls and no matters whos hand you put the same call in it all sounds original.
