has any body had any success at calling in wolves? or what tactics has anybody used to hunt them. just thinking about getting in to wolf hunting and trying to figure out where to start.

its the most difficult animal to kill. period.

you've gotta better chance at killing a 200" buck or 400" bull on public ground.

I've hunted them a lot. They have huge ranges they patrol, don't stay in one spot very long, they're few and far between. By now they've been hunted, called, chased on sleds, etc......they are very well educated.

Having said all that, you'll never kill one if you don't go and try. They're an animal, just like everything else. But you will need a heavy dose of luck to get one killed.

I've only killed one in probably 20 days of hunting. If there's snow, you'll see tracks, at least where I've hunted them there have been tracks literally everywhere. I hate to sound negative, but it's just the reality of wolf hunting. We are planning a trip in December to wolf country, gonna go and call coyotes and pray we get lucky enough to have a wolf come in.

Good luck. You'll need a truck load of it.
