any advice would be helpful fellow MMers. so my dilemma is that in 2 weeks I have not had 1 bear photo on my trail cams in an area where I have seen 6 bears in years past, with water holes and streams. my question is am I too high 8000ft, or do they only occupy my area in aug./sept.when im used to seeing them. the elk are all over, and I know bears like to hunt the calfs.

Bears aren't as active in spring as they are in fall. But, if there are bear in the area you should see sign of them. Scat, claw marks on trees, torn up logs and anthills, tracks, etc.....They like thick and steep. If you can find sign in a particular area, sit on it, they'll show up.

Elevation shouldn't really matter. I like to look in the mornings and early afternoon for sign, then find a spot I can glass from for the evening. Don't be afraid to hunt all day, I've killed bear at all times. Morning, afternoon, evening.

Remember too, there aren't as many bear as there are other critters in an area. For the most part. But if there are elk, you should find a bear or 2.
