La Sal or San Juan

I am hoping for a bear tag this spring, but can't decide on which unit. I'll have plenty of time to hunt. Which unit will provide plenty of opportunities to chase a bear and hopefully find a big boy? Thanks in advance.

Both units are chalk full of bears. Lasal mtns have more bear than deer. The elk ridge part of the san juan also has more bear than deer. So its about sixes.

While hunting the San Juan unit two years ago for elk we seen 4 bears during the hunt and a lot of scat around. This was during the elk hunt and with several hound man running around the unit

Hey guys, anyone interested in helping me out on the la sal to get a bear around the 24th -30th? Thanks in advance.

Give Randy with BTO a call. I have hunted with him on the San Juan, but I know he guides on the La Sal as well. I have hunted with him a number of times and would not hesitate in calling him again. I'm not sure if he is already booked for the spring, but he will be up front and honest with you. Won't be anyone who will work harder to get you a good bear either. Sliverslinger400
