So I'm that guy everyone hates, not really prepared to do a bear hunt, I went ahead and put in for a tag I knew I would never draw instead of just getting a bonus point, you know for someday. La Sal multi season. Boom, drew the tag!

I'll be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing, and I live 300 miles away. Screw it, it will be fun no matter what!

Anyone want to throw an amatuer a bone here? I know what a bear looks like, even seen a few in my time. Other than that, I'm ready to learn.

Multi season tag, but I will likely only be able to make 2-3 trips down. Which season should I focus on? I got no dogs.

Areas? I don't need a treasure map, but general area would save some time.

Killing a bear would be cool, but at my age - I don't care so much anymore, just need to chase one around or lure one in and see what happens.

BTW, I'm not that lurker that doesn't say anything until he draws a tag then begs for info. Or not exactly that guy - been a few years since I posted here.....now I'm begging for info :)

Wow, multiple offers to help, run dogs, etc!

Thank you all. Hunters are damn good people.

More to the story......I have the oddest luck, shitty really. I draw a bear tag in the year where I stand a very good chance of drawing a Henry's buck tag (20 points). I wish was a man of unlimited vacation time. If I draw that tag, the bear will be playing second fiddle. I know, the bear guys are like.."man deer hunters are dumb".

So I'm not planning on the spring hunt for this bear, maybe if the schedule frees up I'll hop down for a weekend. No official plans though.

Researching this has been a blast so far, lots of people giving info, much appreciated.

Best part of the last few days, my wife looking at me and saying "just to be clear - no way in hell are you hanging a dead bear on my wall."......hehe, this is gonna be a fun year.

Thank you flatdead! I'm gonna hold on to your info and might be giving you a call. All plans gonna stay on hold until I find out about deer tag draw!
