Broadheads for Bears

LAST EDITED ON Apr-10-18 AT 07:00PM (MST)[p]I have taken a few bears with mechanicals, and they work just fine. Have used Grim reaper, Rage, and Bloodsport Gravediggers, which is kind of a hybrid head with both mechanicals and fixed blades. All bears died quickly within 50 yards. As mentioned, shot placement is the key, and avoid that front shoulder. Some say to aim for ?middle of the middle? but I prefer to keep my shots a little closer behind the front shoulder. Know your bear anatomy and vitals zone, and any broadhead will work great. My experience has been that bears are quite easy to kill, and an arrow that hits the mark is extremely effective and quick.

This guy expired quickly, using the Gravedigger broadhead.

Good luck

I used a 100 grain grain reaper mechanical last year on my bear. And it got it done.

I have two rules when guiding Kodiak brown bear hunts, use the biggest gun you can handle accurately and absolutely NO mechanical broadheads.

I'd agree 100% .
