Is OnX looking at way points, stealing spots?

As an average nobody my info wouldn’t be worth a turd to anyone but, I have thought about the benefits they would have of crowd sourcing data like less known trailheads and access points, or specific basins etc… using everyone’s waypoints as a “heat map” My guess is that most of it would...

    CO outfitter no horseback

Thanks, I’m definitely not worried about this being a 10 point hunt. Like anyone else I’d love to find a 300”+ bull but if what I’m looking for only exists in a 3-4 point unit or whatever I’m interested. Only caveat is that I’d rather burn my points DIY in a higher point unit than give up the...

    CO outfitter no horseback

Yes, I know we’re stuck in no man’s land and I’m fine with that. No horses is my #1 criteria (hence the title). I’ve been hospitalized after being around people who recently rode a horse when younger. It’s not that bad anymore but I still have no desire to deal with it. If they pack my animals...

    Cody carr hunting adventure

I’ve been on and off of these forums for years and that’s a name I’ve seen pop up as a sketchy outfitter several times. Mostly bad reviews at Bowsite’s outfitter reviews too. There is one about someone being put out off of the corner of someone’s garage on an elk hunt. I’ve never been, might...

    CO outfitter no horseback

Stuck in no man’s land in CO with 10 elk pts and ready to burn them. Looking for a 1st rifle or Muzzy elk guide/outfitter that I can draw with my points that isn’t a horseback hunt due to allergies w/horses and 6’3” me and my 6’6” hunting partner being more than horses want to carry for 8hrs...

    Kodiak Deer Hunt Recommendations

Holy cow. I went in 2018 and had seen 2 grizz before I ever saw a deer. my hunting partner and I quit counting the number of grizz we saw on Wednesday - mid way thru trip - at 22. We also saw a bunch of deer but the grizz population was plenty healthy. The big one (at least it looked big at...

2.5# or less $300 spotting scope

Sorry to HiJack but have wondered about these also. Have any of you used the little Kowa and the little Vortex RazorHD spotters? How do they compare? I’ve often thought about it, when you get that small and cheap is there much benefit over just carrying a high end set of binoculars? If I...

    270 bullet crisis! Help!

If you watch at Federals website every so often you can get the trophy bonded tipped bullets for .270. I’ve been shooting them in my .270wsm and my 300win for several years on everything from antelope, WT, mule deer and elk. The few bullets I’ve recovered have been ~70% weight retention. Most...

    6.5CM for cow elk

Is he jam-ing the lands or jelly-ing them? Oh wait, that’s a different joke…

    Bipod on backpack hunt

I’m nearly a boomer, but over the years I’ve used a Harris bipod, a set of shooting sticks, trekking poles and my backpack. These days I tend to just carry my trekking poles. Shot seated off the pack stood on end for my elk this year. Worked find for 230y, woulda been junk at 400y so I like...

    Field Pics for Solo Hunters

Man, I’m glad I opened this thread. The video idea is awesome. My phone has a self timer that fires of a 10 shot burst but it’s not great. I also had no idea a Bluetooth camera trigger was a thing?! ???

    Alternate List

Made it to #36. Now I have decisions to make. Just got back from an unsuccessful elk hunt in WY and still have that tag burning a hole in my pocket. Heading back for elk for sure. If I go back out west a 3rd time for deer I may come home to an empty house. #37 behind me might just get an extra...

270 win 130 grain recommendation for elk

If you’re not picky about what you get it’s available. I started to reload too because I got sick of having to buy something I didn’t want just because it was all I could get.

270 win 130 grain recommendation for elk

That’s not a typical price. That’s someone price gouging. I typically pay ~$40 for a factory box of 270wsm but right now, that is definitely a “when you can find them” situation.

270 win 130 grain recommendation for elk

Yep, as Homer posted below. Federal also loads them as a factory load as well.
